Verifactu in Spain: what does it mean for your business?
Spain is introducing a new electronic invoicing system: Verifactu. The goal? Invoices that are reliable, transparent and tamper-proof. This way, the Spanish government aims to reduce tax fraud and accelerate the digital transformation of businesses.
How does Verifactu work?
Each invoice processed through Verifactu receives a unique digital signature (hash) and a QR code. The invoice is then either sent in real-time to the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) or stored according to strict legal requirements.
Why is this important?
Verifactu is part of Spain’s broader anti-fraud legislation. By increasing transparency and traceability in invoicing, businesses and authorities gain more control. At the same time, it supports the digitalisation of SMEs.
Key deadlines
29 July 2025: software providers must have their systems Verifactu-ready.
1 January 2026: companies (legal entities) must comply with Verifactu requirements.
1 July 2026: freelancers and self-employed professionals follow.
Who is affected?
Virtually anyone issuing invoices in Spain must comply with Verifactu. The only exceptions are companies already using the SII system (another real-time reporting model).
Why this matters for Sin Rodeos clients
Many of our clients use Odoo and Exact and operate in both the Netherlands and Spain. For them, a smooth transition to Verifactu is essential.
- For Odoo users: starting from version 17.0, Odoo Enterprise offers a standard integration with Verifactu, including QR codes, digital signatures, and direct communication with the AEAT.
More information about this Odoo-Verifactu integration can be found here: Odoo-VeriFactu - For Exact users: it is important to prepare in advance with add-ons or connectors that support Verifactu, so you won’t fall behind when deadlines arrive.
The role of Sin Rodeos
Sin Rodeos builds the bridge between the people and IT. We ensure your organisation, whether on Odoo or Exact, is fully compliant with Verifactu and at the same time works more efficiently.
